I just perused Slotkin’s new Antietam book. What a piece of crap! Factual errors abound, accusations unsupported by facts, sloppy analysis, mostly using secondary sources. Amateurish at best! Save your money and buy Dennis Frye’s September Suspense or better yet, wait until September for Vol. II of Carman’s manuscript.

I was asked to do a review of the book as well and I started and stopped with the South Mountain portion of the book. Lots of historical information in that chapter alone is incorrect. Didn’t venture into the Antietam portion of it.
For those who do not recognize John’s name, he is an authority on the South Mountain battle, and knows what he’s talking about!
